Birmingham McDonald’s branch reopens following mouse scare

The College Road branch in Kingstanding has reopened 24 after evidence of mice activity was found

A Birmingham McDonald’s branch was forced to close following after mice were discovered on the premises.

Customers were told that the fast food restaurant on College Road, in New Oscott, was suddenly shutting on Thursday (Feb 13) and asked to leave.

When contacted, McDonald’s confirmed they had found evidence of mouse activity and had had undertaken a deep cleaning programme.

Birmingham City’s Council’s Environmental Heath department was also informed and the branch was allowed to reopen on Friday afternoon.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “Following the discovery of isolated mouse activity, our New Oscott restaurant was closed for a short time.

“We worked quickly with our external partner to take action including cleaning the restaurant and undertaking work to ensure that any issues are permanently dealt with.

“Less than 24hrs later the restaurant was reopened with the full support of Environmental Health.”

According to reports on social media, tape was placed across the site.

A chain and traffic cones were also placed across the entrance to block entrance.

The popular branch is open from 6.30am to midnight daily.
