Alex Byrne from Stockland Green subjected a woman to ‘awful physical and mental violence’
A ‘dangerous’ thug from Birmingham who bit and tried to strangle a woman and threatened to kill her has been put behind bars.
Alex Byrne, of South Road, Stockland Green in Erdington, repeatedly attacked a woman including biting her and throwing a clothes dryer at her.
The 39-year-old threatened to kill her. Last March the woman called police asking for help.
West Midlands Police officers made a number of arrest attempts at addresses linked to Byrne.

The force also issued a wanted appeal asking for the public’s help on his whereabouts.
Byrne was arrested outside a restaurant after assaulting door staff on Thursday, June 20.
He was charged with intentional strangulation, two counts of assault, four counts of criminal damage and sending malicious communications. He admitted the charges in December.
He was jailed for five years and four months at a sentencing hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday, February 13.

Det Insp Phil Griffths, from West Midlands Police, said: “Byrne is a dangerous man who subjected this woman to awful physical and mental violence. We have supported the woman throughout this difficult process, kept her safe and put her in touch with charities for further support.”
